FirstStop aims:

  • to provide clear and independent information and advice on care and housing for older people;
  • to be a sustainable service for the long term, supported equally by charitable funders, Government and commercial organisations;
  • to grow in partnership with local services to provide an accessible service to all older people, their families and carers.

FirstStop Advice Line

The Advice Line is staffed by trained Advisors in each of the four partner organisations. Our Freephone number provides access to the specialist knowledge and experience of all four teams.

FirstStop website

This website will grow to provide a comprehensive source of information for older people, their families and carers. Its local content will gradually increase, and it will also provide a forum for older people to share their experiences of care with others.

FirstStop plans

Since the beginning of April 2009 FirstStop has been able to provide a full national service, thanks to financial support from the Communities & Local Government Department (CLG). This year we also aim to explore with local authorities and their partners how FirstStop can work with them to enhance local housing and care options services.

FirstStop is delivered nationally by a partnership of three well known charities and one commercial organisation. We aim to forge associations with other organisations that are committed to ensuring that all older people have access to good quality information and advice to help them exercise choice and contril in meeting their care and housing needs and aspirations.
