Abbeyfield Houses are run by voluntary organisations and offer supported housing for between 6 and 12 older people. A majority are owned and managed by independent local Abbeyfield Societies, but a growing number have joined forces within Abbeyfield UK. Some newer Abbeyfield developments are larger and provide extra care sheltered accommodation.
Each house has a paid house manager and provides 2 cooked meals a day and support from local volunteers. Residents have their own rooms, often with en-suite facilities. Some Abbeyfield residents are tenants and some have licences (which means the tenure is less secure).
