An advocate is someone who, with your permission, will act independently on your behalf and represent your views and interests to another party, such as a care home, the NHS, the council, or a member of your family. If you are dealing with a care home, NHS service or council, they all have an obligation to assist you to find an advocate if you feel that you need one.
