Almshouses are independent local charitable trusts that provide affordable housing for older people in need. Most are for older people living in a specific geographical area or connected with a particular trade. They are administered by a body of voluntary Trustees. The Almshouse Association advises and supports the trustees of a large number of Almshouse Charities.
