FirstStop in East Sussex growing

Additional staff resources have been committed by FirstStop to building on the successful launch earlier in the year of FirstStop in East Sussex.

The initiative is founded on a partnership between FirstStop, East Sussex County and District Councils, and a network of local services for older people, and aims to:

  • promote and expand the current telephone advice service;
  • deliver comprehensive information via the FirstStop website;
  • explore ways in which an enhanced service could be developed for older people in the county.

East Sussex Seniors Association and other forums across Sussex will be invited to test different service models, some free, others chargeable.

As well as providing advice and guidance to help older people live safely and maintain their independence at home, FirstStop in East Sussex will trial a new service geared towards those older people who need care, including those considering moving into a care home. It will offer specialist information, guidance, support and casework to help ensure that they are able to find and afford the care they need.
