An example of the work we do

Mr G lives in a first floor flat he rents from a local housing association. Mr G is using his wheelchair more often and is struggling with the stairs, so he had been referred for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) for a stairlift in the communal area. They had registered with the local home choice plus scheme and were in a gold plus banding. We spoke with the housing association about finding a suitable property rather than have a communal stairlift installed. A bungalow became available and Mr & Mrs G viewed the property and decided to accept it. Arrangements were made for a removal man to go in and pack the furniture, a decorating allowance was applied for and we arranged for a carpet fitter to go in before they moved in. The local authority was able to award Mr & Mrs G relocation costs.

Mr G is very happy in his bungalow and managing a lot better.

Worcestershire - Generations Together

Twelve projects across England, including a successful bid from Worcestershire, have been awarded grants as part of a £5.5 million cross-Government scheme to promote intergenerational volunteering and encourage meaningful interaction between young and old generations.

Across Worcestershire, £386,800 was made available for the ‘Transferable Skills’ project. The aim of the project is to provide community project volunteers, both young and old, with additional skills to encourage greater understanding between older and younger age groups, challenge negative stereotypes and increase confidence in interacting with people from other groups and the wider community.
