Goodwin Development Trust

We are a 230-strong Development Trust based in the heart of Hull serving all of the communities of Hull and the East Riding. Once you contact us, you and any of your extended family and friends are entitled to use any of our Family of Services – some of which are FREE of charge.

Our services are for people of all ages, but our focus is on supporting you to live independently. We do this by providing advice and one-to-one support on issues such as housing, care and welfare.

The Goodwin Trust is part of the FirstStopManaging Money Better’ project funded by Comic Relief under their ‘Managing Money Better programme’ to help provide in-depth tailored advice on the financial issues that older people face when making decisions about their housing and care options, including those considering self directed care direct payments. The organisation ensures that this part of its service reaches people who may be particularly vulnerable such those with long term health conditions or disabilities who may wish to remain living independently and also those moving into care.

Goodwin Development Trust First Stop Money Matters local partnership

Our work with older people with long term conditions and or disabilities in the Hull and East Ridings has produced some fantastic outcomes for those who are struggling to make ends meet.

In our first year we have increased income for 219 vulnerable older people by £214,653, resulting in an average increase in disposable income of £980 per household.

These outputs have had significant impacts on peoples quality of life producing sustainable outcomes in reducing food and fuel poverty.

In addition over 90% of our clients stated that their capability and confidence in managing household budgets had greatly increased.
